Split face minor blocks were used in conjunction with ground anchors to create space for new
access roads to a Diving Training Centre near Leicester. Excavation of the clay banks was minimised by installing ground anchors to stabilise the steeply cut face, and then building the 4m high Geolock wall in front, with positive connections to the anchor strands. The gap between the back of the wall and the excavated face was filled with a free draining material, and a collector drain was placed behind the wall at the base. |
