Product : Textomur
Client : Birmingham Great Park Ltd
Contractor : Morrison
Project : Great Park Phase II, Birmingham
Wall Height : 9 metres

Increased development space has been created for housing and commercial units by the use of Textomur reinforced soil. An economic retaining solution was needed for the site boundary which was more than 300m long and turned through 90° in three places. The wall also had to retain more than 9m of ground at various points along its length.

The Textomur system was chosen because it could re-use the cohesive material won on site. A 3m bench was formed in the 60° face at an approximate elevation of +4m to provide access for maintenance of the grassed face and for later planting with tree pits up to 1m diameter. The 2,300m2 of Textomur was constructed in 8 weeks, including the placement of some 23,000m3 of silty clay fill.
