Product : Textomur
Client : Bloor Homes
Contractor : John Reilly Civil Engineering
Project : Wises Lane, Sittingbourne
Wall Height : 3.5 metres

A central landscaped storm water attenuation basin and pond feature was required for the new Bloor Homes housing development in Sittingbourne, Kent. To maximise space for housing, the north side of the attenuation basin required a 3.5m high, 75m long steep slope. Two 650mm benches were formed within the 65° slope to provide an additional area

for landscape planting. The site geology consisted of head deposits (a silty clay) over Upper Chalk and the former was re-used as fill for the Textomur slope. A BBA certified geotextile reinforcement was specified which not only satisfied the necessary design requirements, but also provided in-plane drainage characteristics that aid compaction of cohesive fills.
