One major rail project currently underway is for M40 Trains Limited / Chiltern Railways and involves the design and construction by Mowlem plc of a light maintenance rail depot in the shadow of the new stadium.
| The project includes a new depot building and a new access bridge over the mainline. For construction of these to take place a critical part was a £750,000 contract for the design, supply and build of major retaining walls. |
| The scope of work included 2150 square metres of soil nailing with attached stone filled panels, 210 square meters of Permacrib timber crib walling and 200 square metres of Gabions with a total length of over 450 metres. The products had to meet a 120 year design life, as specified by the client. |
| Phi Group was awarded the contract due to their ability to complete design, supply and build all of the retaining systems required within budget and meet tight delivery times. |
| Alan Sowden, Project Manager for main contractor Mowlem plc said "We were very impressed with the work of Phi Group. With their complete design, supply and build package they offer peace of mind and minimum risk to contractors and clients alike." |
