| Stopping the rock in Edinburgh |
| When Scottish Power decided to install a new sub-station in the middle of Edinburgh city, within sight of the castle, they realised they had a problem. Next to an exposed rock face, loose rocks were likely to fall on to the station and damage it. |
| They appointed Phi Group Ltd, the retaining wall specialist to solve the problem by supplying and installing their Rock Netting. This consists of bolts being drilled into the rock face and attaching continuous rolls of |

| Phi Group, was appointed on a main contractor basis, responsible for Health and Safety, organizing site security and welfare facilities for site workers. Also because the site was adjacent to the main railway line into Waverley Station the works had to be agreed with Railtrack officials. |
| An area 11 metres high by 16 metres wide was covered during the last week of October. Phi Group completed the project within just one week. |
