Project Updates - A very busy time for Phi Southern

Phi Group's Southern Region is undertaking a number of challenging projects utilising a range of retaining wall and ground stabilisation solutions, in what is proving to be a very busy period.

Merthyr Learning Quarter

Phi Group has now completed soil nailing with Soil Panel and Andacrib retaining walls on this project. Working closely with Main Contractor Interserve, the scheme developed and changed to ensure the most cost effective and buildable solution was achieved. The picture below, although taken in typically Welsh weather, shows the soil nailed slope with Soil Panel facing. The Andacrib Concrete crib units can also be seen, prior to installation.

Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield

This project for Bellway Homes will be completed just in time for Christmas, ahead of schedule and on budget. A combination of soil nailing with a stone filled Soil Panel facing, gives a maintenance free solution, with planting bags inserted for a landscaped finish. Originally specified a contiguous piled wall, Phi Group proposed an alternative more cost effective solution.

Haywards Heath Relief Road

Working with Galliford Try for the Client Crest Nicholson, Phi are well under way with the installation of a soil nailed embankment for the Haywards Heath Relief Road. Phi have been involved with this project for a number of years, working with Hyder BTP to assist in gaining approval for the scheme. The project was recently given the go ahead to commence by Crest Nicholson and Galliford Try instructed Phi soon after. The patented Soil Panel system, filled with seeded top soil will give a natural green finish once established. Look out for more pictures once the scheme is completed.

The examples above represent just a selection of the many projects that Phi are currently involved with nationwide. We will soon be putting some news items on the website for other schemes such as Prologis Coton Park, Rugby and Bristol Airport where we have built Permacrib timber crib retaining walls and Textomur reinforced soil slopes. Please get in touch to see how we can assist you on your next project.
