Timber CribThe 6 timber crib walls for Mile End Park all served as aesthetic and tactile curved "wing walls" within the Art & Ecology Parks and Childrens' play centre. The regeneration project utilised nearly 800m2 of timber crib, incorporating numerous services and architectural / design features. A timber pedestrian balustrade on top of the timber crib walls was supported by substantial concrete bases cast within the walls at 1.8m centres. Architecturally, the walls were gently curved to suit the overall site layout, with the walls seamlessly abutting the adjacent buildings with a full height of 4.6 m. An irrigation system and planting pockets (every 1m2) were incorporated within each structure.
